University of Eastern Finland (UEF) Electromagnetic Optical Engineering Group (EOE)

The Electromagnetic Optical Engineering Group (EOE), established in 1994 by Prof. Jari Turunen, is a research group within the Department of Physics and Mathematics of the University of Eastern Finland (UEF), a Finnish university with almost 15000 students and 3000 staff members. The group consists of more than 25 members: four professors, 6 senior researchers or post-docs, 10 Ph.D. students, and technical staff. Thus far the group has produced 17 Ph.D. degrees and, since 1995, more than 150 peer reviewed scientific articles. The main activities of the group are related to diffraction, coherence, and polarization of light, and to optics of waveguides and pulses, in many of which the group is in internationally well recognized level.
