Warsaw University of Technology–(WUT) Institute of Micromechanics and Photonics (IMiF) - Institute of Microelectronics and Optoelectronics (IMiO)

The Faculty of Mechatronics from the Institute of Micromechanics and Photonics – IMiF. and  the Faculty of Electronics and Information Technology from the Institute of Microelectronics and Optoelectronics – IMiO have been cooperating closely on the complementary topics of microoptics and photonics for many years. They belong to the main drivers of the progress of optics and photonics in Poland. They are internationally recognized for fundamental and applied research in the field of optical metrology, micro-optics and optoelectronics.   WUT has solid relations with industry and with companies driving recent extensive investments in optics and photonics in Poland. IMiF and IMiO are involved in several industrially oriented research projects and IMiF received the national “Product of the Future”award in 2006. IMiF has also played a pioneering role in “optics education” by establishing the first optical engineering curriculum in Europe. In 2006 IMiF teamed with four other universities to establish a master “Optics in Science and Technology” which received the Erasmus Mundus quality label from the European Commission.
